Adjustments for Finishing Positions of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

Some suggestions for Adjustments in the Finishing Sequence of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

Sharvangasana

Adjustment 1:
  1. Hook the ancles of the student under your arms
  2. grap with your hands the calfs of the student and pull upwards
Adjustment 2: Finger on chinn or forehead of the student: „Push!“
Result: Neck gets released

Halasana

Adjustment 1: standing behind the student
  1. push with one foot the hand sof the student backwards
  2. lift with the toes of the other foot the area between the soulderblades. Meanwhile the knee of the same leg can stabilice the back of the student backwards.
  3. lift with the hands the hip of the student upwards

Karna Pidasana

Adjustment 1: stand behind the back of the student and stabiliz the lower back

Urdhva Padmadasana

Urdhva Padmasana
Adjustment 1: support the back of the student to prevent him from rolling backwards.

Pindasana

Adjustment 1:
  1. pull the arms of the student long and wrap them around the upper legs; help the student grap his hands.
  2. support the lower back of the student to prevent him from rolling around.

Matsyasana

Adjustment 1: stand over the student, grpa around his chest to the shoulderblades and open the chest with an upward pulling movement

Uttana Padasana

Adjustment 1: put your fingers on the balls of the students feet: "Push!"

Sirsasana

Adjustment 1: put your fingers on the balls of the students feet: "Push!"

Adjustment 2: hold the hip of the student to help him lift up and stay in balance

  2. perfrom from the a soft pressing on the outsides of the upperlegsvon to shift the legs closer together
  3. pull the ancles of the student as far as possible outside
  4. With slow pressing on the upper arms, move the crossed armes from behind torwards each other untel the student can eventually grap his feet.

Padmasana

Adjustment 1:
  1. Stand behind the student and tip your knee between his shoulderblades. Open the chest through pulling the shoulder backward at the same time
  2. help the student relax his nack through a soft massage

Padmasana
Adjustment 2: put one finger on the sternum the other between the shoulderblades.
Result: Remind the student like this on his breathing

Padmasana
Adjustment 3: postion the tips of your fingers on the lower belly
Result: remind him on Uddiyana Bandha
Verbal Help: "straighten your arms, straighten your fingers, roll your index finger in"
Verbal Help: "concentrate on Bandhas and breathing!"

Adjustment 1: support the knees of the student from the front

Shavasana

Adjustment 1: shake the legs of the student

Shavasana
Adjustment 2: shake the arms of the student, while pulling them outwards, to release tenstion
Adjustment 3: enlenghten the neck through a gentel pull on the back of the head
Adjustment 4: straighten the forehead of the student with your thumbs
Adjustment 5: give the temples of the student a massage
Adjustment 6: smooth the ears of the student backwards
Adjustment 7: run with the thumbs onec across the chinn of the student
