Kristen Sikorsky Racco
I have been practicing yoga since 2005 and over the last 4 years I have immersed myself in the practice and art of sharing yoga through teaching. I have studied in Germany, at Yogaworks in Walnut Creek, California and Piedmont Yoga in Oakland, California and am a certified RYT-500 through Yoga Alliance. During my first teacher training my son was born and I was gifted the unique opportunity to focus mainly on prenatal and postnatal yoga, and my thesis covered a special program with different sequences for women during pregnancy.
My teaching style is dynamic, challenging and mindful. My goal in each lesson is to provide each person their own individual experience within the realm of a group lesson. I offer creative modifications and partner work that come from different yoga styles and from Capoeira (my second greatest passion in the world of movement culture) as ways to work through asana, as well as to help us understand ourselves better on and off the mat. I really value the alignment concepts of AYInnovation® because I want my students to be able to establish a lifelong practice.
The most rewarding part of my work is when I see that something I have offered brings a student to a greater sense of sattva, or inner equilibrium. This sense of balance and ability to be mindful, aware and grateful is what I set out on this journey to share.
As a native English speaker, and having 10 years of experience in language pedagogy, I also support the AYI Magazine Team with translations.
